A traditional Turkish art form called Ebru, or water-marbling, is used to create the design.  Each piece of leather is hand cut.  Paints are dropped on a tray of "sizing" and a design is made with the floating paints.  The leather is then laid on the water and the design instantly transfers to it.  The process is quite fascinating as each piece is one-of-a-kind and made with great care.   
 
Due to the nature of this process there may be slight imperfections that add to the uniqueness of each piece.  There may also be some colors of marbling on the inner edges.
